When you buy oranges from a supermarket, you’re often supporting a system that exploits the workers who pick them.
Many of these workers, often migrants, endure harsh conditions, living in temporary camps and surviving on extremely low wages—all to sustain the profits of the distribution chain.
In Calabria, Southern Italy, the Mani e Terra co-operative is doing it differently. They produce oranges harvested by workers who are employed under fair contracts and paid a living wage.
In addition, we aim pay 10% more than the amount our fruit costs. This premium is used to support the work of renovating empty or derelict buildings into dignified accommodation for migrant workers in the region who would otherwise live in terrible conditions in camps. This project is managed by Mediterranean Hope.

More choice, better value! This season, you can choose from a wider range of quantities. As well as our usual 10kg boxes, you can now order 5kg or 2kg, including multiples of 2kg. The more you order, the more you save! Discounts apply as your order increases from the 2kg minimum.
We’re delighted to be working with our partners at The Open Food Network, who provide our online ordering system. Orders open on 5th October 2026, close on 13th November 2026, arrivals are expected in the week of 7th December 2026.
